If I could have one superpower, it would be telepathy. Like professor Charles Xavier from the X-men movies. Why one might wonder, because then I would be able to prevent crime before its occurrence. Violent thoughts about murder, rape, destruction, spreading of hatred, committing terrorist acts, et al, I would be able to listen to them and stop them before they are acted out. I would replace these thoughts with those of love and compassion. How do you instill those feelings in someone? Sure I have a superpower so it might seem that anything is possible but one needs to think, how would a superhuman be capable of making such a significant change to someone’s mind, let alone hundreds, may be millions of people simultaneously.

According to some studies, there is a part of brain that is responsible for creating empathy, called as right supramarginal gyrus. This area of the brain helps us to distinguish our own emotional state from that of other people and is responsible for empathy and compassion. So, my superpower would be able to modify this region of the brain in those individuals to allow for compassionate thoughts.

One might think as how will this kind of power not corrupt an individual himself. One may very well use it to become the most powerful person on this planet by exerting it against all their opponents.

That is possible and which is why there should be more than one superhero to keep them in check!
