“Get up now, otherwise you’ll be late for school”, a woman shouted from kitchen while hastily preparing lunch for her husband and her son.

“Why are you shouting, let him sleep a bit more. We were up all night. I was working on my presentation while he was finishing his environment project”, said the man without taking his eyes off the newspaper. It had an alarming headline -

“Red alert in Idukki and several districts of Kerala, India . Heavy rainfalls may cause floodlike situation.”

“You listen to me Mister, I will not drop him to school if he is late again. I have to rush early to office today. My boss is announcing promotion”, the woman replied.

“I know Lata today is very important day. You are awaiting the big announcement for promotion. I have to give a presentation to my clients. And our son has his project submission tomorrow. But you have to relax. Everything is going to be fine. Trust me”, the man answered.

The following day. It was unusually quiet today. No rush to run to office or to school. Everyone’s asleep.

Knock on the door. No response. Knock again. Still no response. Few minutes later, a loud thud and the door falls to the ground. Several men in uniform enter. They paddle their way in. Water everywhere, on the floor, in the hallway, in the kitchen.

One of the men in uniform shouted, “I have found three bodies over here”.
As he carries them out one by one, floating nearby is shards of cardboard paper with ‘Save the planet’ written on them.
